From the middle of April 2018, VL Scotland will cease to exist as a separate entity, with its administration and grant-giving process being transferred to Foundation Scotland, which is part of a UK-wide network of community foundations which encourage philanthropy and support the voluntary sector.
The decision to transfer the operation to Foundation Scotland was driven largely by a wish to make use of their much greater marketing and administration ability, in the belief that this will result in a more satisfactory matching of the aims of the charity with appropriate grantees. The funds which are transferred from VL Scotland will be ring-fenced within Foundation Scotland, thus ensuring that in the future the funds will still be used in pursuance of our aims before transfer. Three of the current Council of VL Scotland will act as ‘trustee advisors’ for the first few years to help ensure this.
The fund is currently in the process of being reorganised and will open in late Spring 2018, with full details being available then of how to apply for a grant under the new set-up. For more details please see the Foundation Scotland website.
